When I first started all this, there was a vague plan, or timeline if you like. Create, write and film short film. Throw it to a couple of festivals and see if they would entertain it, learn from the mistakes and use the film as a `proof of interest/ability` vehicle for the next venture. So far so good, "Pencil" is now complete, and has been sent off to six different festivals. Updates will be forthcoming as and when the festivals begin, and sure enough, the Transparent Film Festival is a rolling event that culminates in a get together on May 27th of this year.
The lovely people out there in New York are keen to be as transparent as possible with the festival process and they also pledge to look at and review each entry before a final decision is made on official selection. Here is what they had to say about Pencil...........
I can't say that despite having a loose festival strategy I didn't mind if Pencil had no impact.......This review is a confidence booster and gives validation undoubtedly. But I am also accutely aware that all it does is confirm that I am ready for the next phase of the master plan. Either way though, I'm chuffed to bits.
